Jared Shipman


Pastor Jared Shipman was born into a Christian home while his father was in Bible college. He has five siblings, two sisters and three brothers. All three of his brothers currently pastor churches in Texas and Missouri. Pastor Shipman married his high school sweetheart and they have 4 children: Bianca, Nicolas, Elias and Adelyn.
Their daughter Bianca is married to Jake Brown and they have 2 children: Leeland and Korah.

Pastor Shipman was saved at the age of six and surrendered to full-time service in 1997. He graduated from Heritage Baptist College and served as assistant pastor at Heritage Baptist Temple for Pastor David Smith.

In 2003, Pastor Shipman was called as the pastor of Gospel Light Baptist Church. During this time, Fairview has experienced steady growth and seen many souls saved. As well, they have started three churches and sent one missionary to the country of Mexico.



Darvin Shipman

Associate Pastor

Pastor Darvin Shipman was raised in a Christian home. When he was 6 years old, his father surrendered to the ministry. He has a younger brother and sister. In 1973, he met and married Lorita Shaw Shipman from Houston, TX. They have 6 children, 4 sons and 2 daughters, 22 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. His four sons pastor churches in Kansas, Missouri and Texas.

Even though he and his wife were raised in Christian homes, they were not saved until the ages of 21 and 31. Shortly after their marriage, they left their home state of Texas to attend Pacific Coast Baptist Bible College where he graduated in 1977. Bro. Shipman served as youth pastor while in Bible College, at Grace Baptist in Milan, NM and later in his ministry at Heritage Baptist Temple in Arkansas. He also served as Associate Pastor at Heritage, totaling 12 years of service there. He served as Senior Pastor in New Mexico, Idaho, Washington, and Texas.

In 2010, he left Texas once again to join his oldest son in the ministry here at Gospel Light Baptist Church. He is the associate pastor and financial manager, the teacher of the Harvester Adult class and is also involved in the Victory Addiction Ministry.



Matthew Payne

Assistant Pastor

Brother Matthew Payne is a life-long resident of Kansas City, Kansas. He was saved as an 18-year old college student. He went on to graduate from Washburn University in Topeka, KS. He became faithfully involved in church after Pastor Shipman knocked on his door in 2003.

He went on to attend and graduate from Fairview Baptist College and now serves under the leadership of Pastor Shipman.

Matthew married his loving wife, Michelle, and they have two children, Brayden and Lydia.
